Fund created to help children injured in I-65 crash. Feb 26th, 2011
On Wednesday, February 23, 2011, a tragic car and truck accident occurred in Hardin County, Ky. where three people were killed and two small children were seriously injured when their Nissan Pathfinder was rearended by a tractor trailer. As reported by the Courier Journal, the Chicago family was returning home from Florida, where they had attended a wedding. The three people who died in the accident included the groom, his 10 year-old sister and another 11-year old family member.
The two small children that survived the crash, ages 5 and 2, are in stable but serious condition at Kosair's Childrens Hospital. If you would like to make a donation to assist the children's medical care and help pay for expenses incurred by the family as a result of the accident, you may do so online at HelpKosairChildrensHospital.com or by phone at 1-800-444-2523.
This tragic accident took place at 3:30 am and it reminds me how many serious accidents occur late at night and early in the morning hours. There are a lot of trucks on the road overnight with drivers who are tired and there are a lot of drunk drivers on the road at that time. It is best to avoid driving at this time and if it can not be avoided to make sure there is a passenger in the vehicle who is helping the driver watch the roadway and keep the driver awake.
